SHE IS AI Initiative Uganda (registered as SHEISAI INITIATIVE (U) LTD) is the Eastern African hub of our global movement.
As part of the global SHE IS AI network, we are dedicated to advancing inclusive AI education, fostering innovation, and creating pathways for women, youth, and communities across Uganda to participate in the digital economy.
We believe AI should not only serve global corporations, but also uplift local communities. Our mission is to build equitable access to training, tools, and opportunities that prepare Ugandans for the jobs and industries of the future.
Our Education & Sustainable Hubs
Our vision goes beyond classrooms. Through a network of AI Education and Sustainable Energy Hubs, we deliver:.
Practical AI Upskilling – hands-on training in AI tools, coding, data, and digital literacy.
Youth & Women Programs – tailored workshops to empower women, girls, and young innovators.
Entrepreneurship & Community Projects – applying AI to solve real local challenges in agriculture, health, education, and climate resilience.
Sustainable Energy Infrastructure – creating solar-powered grids and clean tech hubs that ensure reliable access to electricity, enabling AI adoption even in rural and underserved communities.
Global Connections – linking local talent with global mentors, investors, and opportunities.
These hubs are safe, collaborative spaces where people can learn, innovate, and shape the future with AI built on a foundation of sustainability.
Why Uganda?
Over 70% of Uganda’s population is under 30 (World Bank, 2023). This youth boom represents both a challenge and an opportunity.
Only 26% of Ugandans use the internet regularly (ITU, 2022). Closing this digital divide is critical.
Women remain underrepresented in STEM, making up less than 30% of science and technology graduates.
AI and digital tools have the potential to transform key sectors like agriculture, education, and healthcare, but equitable access to knowledge and energy is the missing link.
SHE IS AI Uganda addresses this gap by equipping youth and women with the skills, power, and platforms to participate in the AI economy.
